Alaska State Parks

Welcome to Alaska's beautiful Afognak Island State Park. What was once part of the Chugach National Forest is now a beautiful state park. This park helps protect a beautiful Sitka-spruce forest habitat that for the most part has never been touched except for a small section that was timber havested in the early 1990's. Much of the park was devastated by the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill but many habitats have been successfully restored since.

Wildlife: Some of the park's wildlife include black tailed deer, kodiak bears, Roosevelt elk, and salmon. Please treat their home wtih respect.
