Forest History: In July of 1936, the Conecuh National Forest was established by Presidential proclamation by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The name Conecuh itself is an old tribal term believed to be of Muskogee origin that means land of cane.
Wildlife: The Conecuh National Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including foxes, deer, squirrels, rabbits, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
