Welcome to Cheaha State Park the highest point in the state of Alabama at 2407 feet above sea level. It is located in the middle of the Talladega National Forest and is the oldest operating state park in Alabama today. The word Cheaha is an old Creek term meaning "high place."

Park History: Cheaha State Park was first established in 1933 and the State of Alabama, the National Park Service, and the Civilian Conservation Corps helped to build the park's facilities.

Wildlife: Being right next door to the much larger Talladega National Forest, Alabama's largest wilderness, Cheaha State Park helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, foxes, squirrels, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors Cheaha boasts magnificent views, miles of trails, and numerous campsites. Each year Cheaha State Park hosts the Annual Mountain Bike Championship Race. Come on out and explore!
