Welcome to the Talladega National Forest located in the Appalachian Foothills of eastern Alabama between Birmingham and Atlanta, Georgia.

Forest History: It is said that the Talladega National Forest was severely over-logged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Talladega National Forest was established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on July 17, 1936 with the merger of the Talladega and Oakmulgee Units. Since that time, much of the old farmland and timberland has been reforested.

Wildlife: The Talladega National Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, squirrels, foxes, raccoons, and wild turkeys. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this forest boasts numerous campgrounds and miles of multipurpose trails. Come on out and explore!
