Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge

Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge is a beautiful desert wilderness that is Arizona's largest National Wildlife Refuge at over 860,000 acres. The name is Spanish for dark head. It was operated as a Game Range for many decades before obtaining NWR status in 1975. It helps protect the home of over 400 species of plants and 275 species of animals.
