Welcome to Gaicki Park located in Tempe, Arizona. This is one of the city's smaller park's and is named in memory of a local firefighter named Ed Gaicki who responded to a call in January of 1980 at the Jumbo Bagel Deli. Smoke was visible when they first arrived on the scene and the dozen firemen began to take apart the ceiling in order to find the fire. The roof collapsed and the fire grew dramatically in size, taking Gaicki's life. After graduating at the top of his high school class in 1970, ten years before his death, Ed was ready to go to the United States Air Force Academy, but decided to become a fireman instead. Today this park named in his memory has a ramada and a soccer field. Come out and have fun!
