Franklin Canyon Park is between San Fernando Valley and the sunny Beverly Hills, California. With 605 acres, over five miles of trails, and a three-acre lake, this park is one of the most accessible nature dwellings closest to the center of Los Angeles.
The park was originally created as a reservoir built in 1914 to dispel water to a newly built nearby community and later was inspired by conversationalists to be made into a park in the 1970’s.
Franklin Canyon Park has three trails: -Discovery Trail (.3 miles “easy”) -Hastain Trail (2.3 miles “moderate to strenuous”) -Berman Trail (1 mile “moderate to strenuous”)
Each trail offers various levels of hiking. Depending on your choice, you can see spectacular views of West Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean, or the walnut woodland at the canyon’s bottom. Be sure to check out the printable checklist for birdwatching on the MRCA website!
