Welcome to one of the largest Urban National Wildlife Refuges in the United States Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a saltwater marsh oasis located along the shores of San Francisco Bay within a short distance over over seven million people. This refuge plays a key role in helping to protect the ecological health of the San Francisco Bay. Wildlife: This refuge helps protect the habitat for 9 endangered species, over 227 bird species, and many others. Please treat their home with respect. For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts over 30 miles of trails, a fishing pier, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
