Welcome to California's Fort Ross State Historic Park located on the Pacific Coast north of the Bay Area near Jenner. Like all places in the western hemisphere Fort Ross has a human history that dates back thousands of years with the Native Americans, in this case being the Kashia Pomo People. In the early 19th century there was a group of Russians who immigrated to the region and established the settlement of Fort Ross making it the southernmost Russian settlement in North America. Today the visitor can still see the structures from the original settlement.
