Brushy Peak Regional Preserve
Welcome to Brushy Peak Regional Preserve located in Livermore California.
Park History: Brush Peak, with an elevation of 1,702 feet ASL sits at the juncture of the California Delta, the Central Valley, and the Bay Area. It's geographic position put her in the center of a Native American trade network between the Yokuts, Miwoks, and Ohlones who held various trade feasts at Brushy Peak. At the end of the Mexican-American War California had become a part of the United States and during the Gold Rush many bandits had their hideouts at Brushy Peak. In the 1870's Brushy Peak and much of the surrounding lands were used for ranching. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries Brushy Peak became a popular picnicking destination. In the 1970's the East Bay Regional Park District began purchasing the land and additional acquisitions were made over the years.
