Welcome to Wildcat Canyon Regional Park nestled in the hills above Richmond, California.
Park History: Before the arrival of the first Spanish settlers various Native American tribes occupied the land that is now Wildcat Canyon Regional Park for thousands of years. When the Bay Area started to grow this canyon helped protect a valuable water source for the region until the Mokolumne River became the new water source in 1935. This land was purchased by the East Bay Regional Park district in 1976.
Flora and Fauna: Wildcat Canyon Regional Park helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the park boundaries include oaks, bay laurels, snowberries, alders, and dogwoods. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include skunks, raccoons, foxes, deer, garter snakes, great horned owls, hawks, and turkey vultures. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this park boasts over 22 miles of trails, four picnic areas, and so much more. Come on out and explore! To reserve a picnic area please call 888 EBPARKS.
