San Bernardino National Forest

Welcome to the San Bernardino National Forest located in the mountains of Southern California not far from the bustling metropolis of Los Angeles.   

Forest History: Long before the arrival of European settlers, Native Americans occupied the land that is now San Bernardino National Forest for thousands of years. In 1855, the discovery of gold in the region brought many white settlers here including, miners, ranches, and loggers. By the end of the century, human activities had taken a serious toll on the forest and in 1893, the land became a Forest Reserve. In 1907 the reserve became San Bernardino National Forest.   

Wildlife: San Bernardino National Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, foxes, raccoons, coyotes, squirrels, and bald eagles. Please treat their home with respect.
