Welcome to Sequoia & King's Canyon National Park located in California's Sierra Nevada country.

Park History: The land that is today's Sequoia & King's Canyon National Park was first occupied by humans over 7,000 years ago. The ancestors of these early settlers make up today's Monache and Yokut tribes. Some of the first European settlers to arrive in the region came in the late 18th and early 19th century and these included trappers, miners, and loggers. In the late 19th century the local communities took an increasing recreational interest in these lands and eventually the Sequoia & King's Canyon National Parks were established which are today managed together as one park.

Flora and Fauna: Sequoia & King's Canyon National Park helps protect the home of many plant and animal species including the world famous sequoia tree. Other smaller plants include white firs, sugar pines, and ponderosa pines. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include black bears, acorn woodpeckers, gopher snakes, skunks, mule deer, bighorn sheep, bobcats, and gray foxes. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors Sequoia & King's Canyon National Park boasts an 1,800 foot granite wall that is popular with climbers, miles of trails, and much more. Come on out and explore!
