Welcome to the Tahoe National Forest, an oasis of rivers, forests, and snow-capped mountains nestled in the northern Sierra Nevada range east of the State Capitol all the way to the Nevada State Line. The forest ranges in elevation from as low as 1,500 feet ASL to as high as 9,000 feet ASL.

Forest History: The Tahoe National Forest has a long and unique history with the first human settlements dating back over 4,000 years ago to more recent events such as the California gold rush and early developments of hydro-power.

Flora and Fauna: Tahoe National Forest helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the forest boundaries include Ponderosa pines, Jeffrey pines, red firs, douglas firs, and Giant Sequoias. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include deer, bald eagles, and coyotes. Please treat their home with respect.

For the lover of the outdoors this forest boasts the Apline Meadows and Squaw Valley Ski Resorts, miles of multipurpose trails, many mountains to climb, and so much more. Come on out and explore.
