Welcome to Canyons of the Ancients National Monument located in southwest Colorado. Park History: This park boasts over 6,000 archeological sites of various Native American cultures including the Puebloan culture. Some of the first inhabitants arrived over 10,000 years ago and were very good at basket-making. In more recent years the Natives began to build Pueblo style villages and harvest corn. Some of the first European settlers in the region established farms and ranches. For the lover of the outdoors this place boasts hiking trails and marvelous scenery. Come on out and have a blast!
