First established in 1990, the land that is now Golden Ponds Park is the site of an old gravel quarry. Vernon Golden, the man who owned the mining company, donated the land to the city of Longmont. Today the park features a small bronze statue of Golden and offers many great fishing opportunities as well as wildlife habitat for blue herons. From this park one can catch a glimpse of a magnificent view of the Rocky Mountains including Long's Peak.
