Welcome to Pond Mountain Natural Area in Kent, Connecticut. This beautiful preserve was first established in 1966 with the help of a woman named Myra H. Hopson, whose father John Hopson once owned the land. Ms. Hopson wrote "It is in my interest and wish that all the property that I own and have owned in Kent be preserved in it's natural state in perpetuity, that all land, woods, and water be kept inviolate from exploitation as free as possible from all human interference: but that this property be enjoyed for it's scientific, educational, and cultural values as I and my family, my friends, and appreciative people have enjoyed."
Trails: There are some great trails at Pond Mountain Natural Area and one can even access one of the most famous trails in the world, the Appalachian Trail. On a clear day from the summit of Pond Mountain (1,332 feet ASL) one can see as far as the Catskill Mountains in New York. This is home to one of the deepest glacial lakes in Connecticut, Fuller Pond.
