Welcome to Connecticut's scenic Camp Columbia State Forest and Park located near Morris. In the late 19th and early 20th century this place was the site of a resort for engineering students at Columbia College in New York (Today's Columbia University). Students came for several summers and over the years the camp grew in size. During WWI the camp became a training facilities for Columbia's ROTC students. In 1948 General Dwight D. Eisenhower became President of Columbia University and did some hunting on this property. Just a short time later he was elected President of the United States. In the late 20th century local fire departments did some training on this land before it finally became a park in 2000.
