Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park

Welcome to Florida's grand and magnificent Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, home of one of the world's largest and deepest freshwater springs.  

Wildlife: This park helps protect the habitat of many wild animals including bald eagles, American alligators, manatees, white-tailed deer, and turtles. Please treat their home with respect when visiting.

Swimming: The Weather Channel did a report of the best swimming holes in all of the 50 states in 2015 and Wakulla Springs State Park was the one listed for Florida. It is a nice and clear, clean, and cool water hole with even a high dive making it a very great place to go to escape the heat on hot summer days.

Lodging: The park has a grand and beautiful lodge that was built in 1937 by a man named Edward Ball. It is open year round and is very comfortable.

As the owner of RecPlanet I can speak personally about this park since I visited there in 1996. The swimming hole is an absolute blast and the park is very well worth the visit. Come out and explore.

History: The park has a human history that dates back possibly as far as 15,000 years when the Timucuan Native Americans first entered the region. Wakulla is believed to be a Native American term that means "mysterious waters." The park was first established in 1934.
