Welcome to Berry College Wildlife Management Area, located on the world's largest college campus, Berry College, just north of Rome, Georgia and bordering the Chattahoochee National Forest. The College owns this land but the Georgia Department of natural resources helps manage it. The college allows people from Rome as well as other regions to come and utilize the many miles of trails located inside Berry College Wildlife Management Area for recreational use. One of the trails is the Viking Trail, a paved multipurpose trail that links the main campus to the mountain campus. There are some days, when hunters are allowed to come hunt during what are known as managed hunts, and on these days the trails are closed for safety reasons. This natural park also helps protect the wildlife habitat of black bears, white-tailed deer, raccoons, red-tailed hawks, screech owls, peregrine falcons, rabbits, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, and many others. So whether you are a student at Berry College or somebody who is just traveling through the region, come out and explore!
