Welcome to Iowa's beautiful Lake Manawa State Park, one of the most popular recreation areas in the greater Omaha area. This lake was formed by a flood in 1881 that cut off a portion of the Missouri River. Manawa is a Native American term that means "peace and comfort" and many people flock to this place exactly for those things. This park has a 772 acre lake that is popular for all types of aquatic activities and is full of bass, bluegill, and catfish. There is no limit on boat motor size and paddle boats and canoes are available for rental near the swimming beach. There are 72 campsites in Lake Manawa State Park and 37 of them have electrical outlets. The park also has over eight miles of multipurpose trails that connect up to the Wabash Trace Trail and Council Bluffs Trail System. Come out and explore!
