Welcome to Iowa's Yellow River State Forest located in the northeastern part of the State.

Fishing: Each year the Paint Creek section of this forest is stocked with trout from April through October making it a great fisherman's destination.

Trails: Come explore many miles of multipurpose trails for all seasons. In 1996 these were rated as some of the top trails in Iowa.

Forest History: The first tracts of land were purchased by the State of Iowa in 1935 and the Civilian Conservation Corps helped work to restore it. Many improvements were made over the years.

Wildlife: Some of the resident wildlife include white tailed deer, raccoons, squirrels, and beavers. Please treat their home with respect when visiting.
