Welcome to the Boise National Forest sprawling across Idaho's majestic mountains not far from the State Capitol.
Flora and Fauna: The Boise National Forest helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the forest boundaries include conifers, pines, firs, and wildflowers. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include elk, deer, bears, mountain lions, and many others. Please treat their home with respect. Forest History: Boise National Forest was established in 1908 from portions of the Sawtooth and Payette Forest Reserves. It ranges in elevation from as low as 2,600 feet ASL to as high as 9,800 feet ASL and boasts major waterways including the Boise and Payette Rivers.
