Welcome to the Bethine Church River Trail located in Boise, Idaho. This 1.6 mile trail runs from the Cottonwood Apartments to the East Park Center Bridge and helps to protect 24 acres of riverbank habitat supporting riparian vegetation and wild animals. This trail was named in honor of Bethine Church, a pioneer in conservation who helped found the Sawtooth Society, an organization that fought hard for the protection of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. This organization has also helped to fund some of the amenities of the Sawtooth National Forest and continues to fight for protection of the Boulder-White Clouds wilderness area. Church is also head of the Frank Church Institute, an organization that has brought leaders including former President Gerald Ford and former Vice President Al Gore to speak in Boise. In 2009, the Wilderness Society gave her the Bob Marshall award. Come on out and explore the trail.
