Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge

Welcome to Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge located in the rolling hills of southwest Idaho along the Pacific Flyway. This refuge has been designated by the American Bird Conservancy as a Globally Important Bird Area and helps protect the home of numerous migratory birds and other resident wildlife. Wildlife: The wetlands, sagebrush hills, grasslands, and riparian forests of Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge help protect the home of numerous wild animals including mallard ducks, Canadian geese, and many others. Please treat their home with respect. Refuge History: This is one of the oldest National Wildlife Refuges in the United States. It was first founded by President Theodore Roosevelt in February 1909. For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts a lake stocked with rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, brown bullheads, and smallmouth bass, numerous wildlife viewing opportunities, and so much more.
