Welcome to the Iroquois County State Wildlife Area, a vast expanse of marshland, sand ridges, and dunes located on a low glacial outwash plain in the Kankakee River Valley near Beaverville, Illinois roughly 80 miles south of Chicago.  

Flora and Fauna: This preserve helps to protect the home of numerous species of plants and animals. Some of the preserves plants include cord grass, bluejoint grass, Indian grass, primrose violets, and huckleberries. Some of the preserves animals include deer, herons, hawks, and many others.  

For the lover of the outdoors this preserve boasts nearly a mile of hiking trails, an archery range, 12 miles of snowmobile trails, and several picnic areas. Come on out and explore.
