Welcome to the Eldon Hazlet State Recreation Area, located on the western shores of the state's largest lake, the 26,000 acre Carlyle Lake, a reservoir of the Kaskaskia River. The park is named after Eldon Hazlet, an attorney who served as president of the Kaskaskia Valley Association, an organization that promoted the construction of reservoirs in the region. This park offers numerous recreational opportunities and draws over 800,000 visitors each year. Some of the park's amenities include over 300 campsites, 9 mile of hiking trails, a swimming pool, and three boat ramps. The park's windy conditions make Carlyle Lake one of the most popular sailing destinations in the Midwest and over 30 species of fish can be caught in the lake. Come on out and have a blast!

The park has 328 class A campsites with electricity and water. To contact the park office please call 618-594-3015.
