Welcome to Chicago's Altgeld Park located in the East Garfield neighborhood. The land for this urban playground was generously donated by two real estate developers in 1873, Frank Campbell and his brother James. For years it was known as Congress Park but was eventually renamed for a late 19th century Illinois Governor John Altgeld. The park's community center offers many programs for kids 12 months a year from daycare during the school year to day camp during the summer.
