Chicago's Augusta Park is located in the Humboldt Community. It is believed that this park as well as the nearby street were named for the daughter of Chicago's first druggist, Augusta Carpenter. Carpenter's father Philos Carpenter traveled from Chicago to Troy, New York in 1832 via Native American Canoe and mail coach. Carpenter became a rich man via real estate investments and eventually became an advocate for the abolition of slavery. Augusta Park hosts many annual events including an Earth Day cleanup and it's facilities can be rented out for parties and other events. Come out and have fun!
