Welcome to Chicago's Brown Memorial Park located in the Chatham Neighborhood. The land that is today's Brown Memorial Park was first purchased in 1967 but the following year local residents were angered saying that the new park was not big enough. Though the park district tried to meet the community's request, additional purchases did not occur. In 1990 the park was named for Sidney Brown, the first African American firefighter to die in the line of duty in the Chicago Fire Department. Brown was a brave man who served his city and today this park boasts tennis courts, basketball courts, a softball field, and a playground for the kids. All of the facilities have lights for night games. Come out and have fun.
