Welcome to Chicago's Edison Park located in the Edison Park Community. For many years in the early 20th century this site was operated as a school that was named for a reverend named Christian Ebenger, who migrated to the Chicago region from Detroit in 1833. In 1934 the City of Chicago gained ownership of the land and in 1937 renamed it in honor of the great Thomas Alva Edison, an American inventor who is most noted for inventing the light bulb.
