Welcome to Chicago's Eugene Field Park.

Park History: The land that is now Eugene Field Park was first purchased by the Albany Park District in 1923. Much of the park was designed by local architects Henry Stockman and the great Clarence Hatzfield. In 1934, the Albany Park District, like most of the others, merged into the Chicago Park District due to the financial ills of the Great Depression Era. By 1938, this piece of land was a beautiful riverside park with picnic tables, tennis courts, and other fine features. Additional improvements were made in the late 1940's and early 1980's. The park was named in honor of Eugene Field, a local 19th century children's author who is known for such books as Little Boy Blue and Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat.

Today this park boasts a playground, a sprayground, tennis courts, and much more. Come on out and have fun.
