Welcome to Chicago's Fernwood Park. This beautiful urban park was named after a 19th village established by local Dutch immigrants. In the early 20th century there was a growing interest among local residents for the formation of a park district and in 1908 their wish was finally granted when the Fernwood Park District was established. Soon this new park district purchased a 12 acre farm that would change over the years into what is today's Fernwood Park. In 1934 the Fernwood Park District and several others were all merged into the Chicago Park District. Today this park boasts a World War I monument, spraygrounds, tennis courts, and more. Come out and have fun.
