Welcome to Chicago's Gross Park. The land that is now Gross Park was first purchased by the city in 1898 to be used by the Department of Sewers. Now one would think that this is why the site is called Gross Park, but coincidentally it is not, the park was in fact named for Theodore Gross, a man who served as the city's Superintendent of Playgrounds for over 40 years. This park received improvements in the late 1970's and in 1990 and today it offers fun both the residents and visitors of Chicago. Come on out and have fun.
