Welcome to one of Chicago's largest and most historic recreation areas, the magnificent Jackson Park which was first established back in 1869. For many years it was known as Lake Park but was renamed in 1881 after President Andrew Jackson, the man who is on the $20 bill. Like New York's Central Park and many other parks across the United States, it was designed by the great Frederick Law Olmsted. In 1890 the park hosted the World Columbian Exposition.

Jackson Park is also home to the 57th Street Beach and 63rd Street Beach. It is a great park for kite-flying on windy days.
