Welcome to Chicago's Jacob Playlot Park located in the Lincoln Square Neighborhood. This park's history dates back about 100 years when the local park district, with limited money, purchased a small piece of land for a new park that eventually became today's Jacob Playlot Park. In 1928 the park district tried to sell the land but faced heavy protest from local citizens. In 1934 the City of Chicago finally gained control of the land and named it Virginia Park. Local residents began to give it the name Jaeger Park so it is assumed that it went from Jaeger to Jacob via a simple typographical error. Today this park offers a playground for the kids with sandboxes.
