Lyle Park

Activities:
Playground

Welcome to Chicago's Lyle Park, named for Alderman John Lyle, whom in 1920 advocated for the creation of a new park on a recently abandoned railroad bed. Lyle migrated to the Chicago area from Indiana and received his law degree from John Marshall Law School. His political career began as an Assistant Cook County State Attorney in 1910 before being elected a State Legislator in 1914 and city Alderman in 1918. But Lyle is perhaps best known for his service on the Municipal Court and his successful efforts to bring down Al Capone. Today this park named in his honor boasts a playground for the kids. Come out and have fun.
