Welcome to Chicago's Williams Park located in the community of Douglas. This park was first established in 1950 in order to meet growing recreational demands for the community. Over the years many improvements have been made. This park is named for Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, a famous African-American physician who became the first person in history to perform a successful open heart surgery in 1893.
