Welcome to the second largest park in the Darien Park System, the Darien Community Park. This 20 acre park was purchased with the help of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and is the home of the VFW Memorial, a tribute to all who have served in the armed services. The park's lit softball fields, built in September of 2000, were dedicated to Robert Counsell, a man who served on the Board of Commissioners for more than two decades. This park also boasts two basketball courts, four tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, two picnic pavilions, a soccer field, and restrooms. Come on out and have fun. This was RecPlanet place of the day on July 5, 2015.
