Welcome to Hidden Lakes Forest Preserve located near Downers Grove, Illinois.
Forest History: The Hidden Lake Preserve wasn’t always a peaceul and natural setting. During the construction if Interstate 355 this was the site of an old gravel quarry.But since that time much of the preserve has been restored to it's natural setting and helps protect two lakes and the banks of the east Branch River.
Flora and Fauna: Hidden Lake Forest preserve is one of the few places in DuPage County where the sound of spring peepers can still be heard and also helps protect many valuable oak trees. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors the DuPage County Forest Preserve District offers programs on kayaking, canoeing, and fishing at this preserve. Visitors can bring their own canoes and kayaks but must have a permit ready. Electric powered motors up to a maximum of 20 feet are also allowed. The fishing lakes are stocked with bass, catfish, sunfish, and carp. Hidden Lakes also boasts over two miles of multipurpose trails. Come on out and explore!
