Welcome to Eagle Creek State Recreation Area located in central Illinois not far from the State Capitol.

Park History: This park's lake came into existence of the Flood Control Act of 1958 when a dam was built to create the reservoir. Before the dam could be built many of the region's mines had to be shut down and cemeteries, pipelines, and roads relocated. The area opened up to the public in 1972 and the State of Illinois has purchased additional tracts of land since that time.

This large recreation area consists of over 250 miles of shoreline and over 11,000 acres of water. It offers many recreational opportunities twelve months a year. This park boasts over 12 miles of multipurpose trails, a boat ramp, 56 developed campsites and several picnic areas. Come on out and have fun!
