Welcome to Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve located on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan! The park boasts a 1.3 mile paved trail that is good for biking and hiking in the spring, summer, and fall and cross-country skiing in the winter. The trail connects up to the preserves .75 miles of beach where one can enjoy fishing, picnicking, and bird watching but swimming and boating are not allowed. The preserve is the site of the Old Fort Sheridan and is also home to one of the last remaining mesic and dry-mesic upland forests, the Janes Ravine.
