Welcome to the Hastings Lake Forest Preserve, a place of wetlands, forest, and open fields as well as the 80 acre Hastings Lake. The preserve offers a one mile trail for hiking in the spring, summer, and fall and for cross-country skiing in the winter. One can come fish on the over 12,000 feet of lakeshore and expect to catch largemouth bass, carp, bluegill, and other species. Preserve History: This is one of the newer forest preserves in Lake County and was established in 2003. The land used to be the location for a YMCA camp that was built in 1923 and to this day the YMCA operates a facility on the adjacent property. Come on out and explore!
