Welcome to Barrie Park located in Oak Park, Illinois.
Park History: From 1893-1931 a gas plant operated on the land that is now Barrie Park and left many contaminants in the soil that were discovered in 1999. Through the efforts of the village of Oak Park, ComEd, and NiCor, successful cleanup efforts were made between August 2001 and December 2003. Shortly after the cleanups were finished the park underwent a renovation that gave it it's present day sledding hill, a .32 mile walking path, new trees, and a soccer field. There are tennis courts and basketball courts right across the street at the Barrie Center. Come on out and have fun!
