Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve
Welcome to DuPage County's largest Forest Preserve, the Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve located in Wayne Illinois along the edge of James Phillip State Park. This preserve, nestled on the outwash plain of the West Chicago Moraine, boasts a large diverse wetland habitat and several fishing lakes that are the sites of former gravel quarries.
Flora and Fauna: The calcium rich waters and sandy soils of Pratt's Wayne Woods helps protect the home of numerous plant and animals species. Some of the plants that grow inside the preserve boundaries include oaks and ferns. Some of the wild animals who call this place home include wood ducks, sandhill cranes, black crowned night-herons, yellow-headed blackbirds, squirrels, and raccoons. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this preserve boasts youth group campgrounds, fishing lakes stocked with bass, crappie, sunfish, bluegill, and catfish, over 8 miles of multipurpose trails, an RC aircraft field, a 23 acre off-leash area for dogs, picnic tables and grills, and so much more. Come on out and have a blast!
