Ferdinand State Forest
Welcome to Ferdinand State Forest located in Dubois County, Indiana.
Forest History: In 1933 a local conservation club purchased 900 acres in order to build a lake and hunt and fish on the land. They offered to turn the management over to the State of Indiana and Ferdinand State Forest was born. In 1934, a Civilian Conservation Corps work camp was set up on the land and they worked to build roads, service buildings, and one of Indiana's most beautiful forest lakes.
Wildlife: Ferdinand State Forest helps protect the home of numerous wild critters including deer, raccoons, squirrels, foxes, and wild turkeys. Please treat their home with respect.
