Welcome to Rhodius Park located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The City of Indianapolis first purchased this land from the family of George Rhodius, a son of German immigrants, in the second decade of the 20th century. His mother Maria was a wealthy businesswoman, considered by many to be one of the best of her kind in the city. George himself was considered legally insane and died in 1909, leaving this land to the City of Indianapolis. His dying request was "I recommend that it be done with the end of giving breathing space to the poor element of our city. This being my native city and the city where my mother lived and we both loved it and wished only for it's good."
Today Rhodius Park boasts numerous youth and adult recreational programs, a sledding hill for snowy days, four lighted tennis courts, and much more. Come out and have fun! To contact the staff or reserve a facility please call 317-327-7191.
