Welcome to Walter Q. Gresham Memorial Park located in Lanesville, Indiana on the banks of Little Indian Creek.
Park History: In 1967 the Franklin Township Athletic Club generously dedicated the first park in the Harrison County Park System. The park is named for one of the most historical men of Harrison County, Walter Q. Gresham, a man who was born in Lanesville in 1832 and served as a Lt. Colonel and Brigadier General in the Civil War. In 1883 President Arthur appointed him as Postmaster General and served as Secretary of Treasury in 1884 and finally became a federal judge until the year 1892. In 1893 President Cleveland appointed him Secretary of State, a position he held until he died of pneumonia in 1895. His body now rests in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C.
This park boasts a playground and a picnic area. To contact the office and reserve the pinic shelter please call 812-738-8236. Come on out and have fun.
