Welcome to Asa Bales Park located in Westfield, Indiana. This park is named for Asa Bales, a teacher who was born and raised in North Carolina in the late 18th century and early 19th centuries. In 1822 he migrated to Indiana and helped to found the city of Westfield. In the 1830's Bales and other quakers established a group that opposed slavery and helped assist escaping slaves in the Underground Railroad. In 1845 Bales died of Cholera.
