Refuge History: Handy Brake National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1988 in order to protect the region's wetlands and provide refuge for migratory waterfowl and other wild critters.
Wildlife: Handy Brake National Wildlife Refuge is home to numerous wild critters including frogs, alligators, ducks, hawks, beavers, and many others. Please treat their home with respect.
For the lover of the outdoors this refuge boasts an observation tower that is open 12 months a year. Come on out and enjoy the view!
